The word ‘Chikungunya’ means ‘to walk bent.’ Chikungunya is an infection caused by the Chikungunya virus (CHIKV). It is an RNA virus. Like Dengue virus, this virus also spreads among people by the Aedes mosquito that mainly bites during the day. Most people infected with ‘Chikungunya’ virus will develop some symptoms. The most common symptoms are fever and joint pain. Other symptoms may include headache, muscle pain, joint swelling, or rash.
